Assessment and treatment for dizziness, vertigo and balance problems, including repositioning treatment for BPPV.
Dizziness has many causes and treatment depends entirely on which one applies. Vestibular rehabilitation begins with assessment: your physiotherapist tests eye movement, positional changes and balance to determine what is driving your symptoms.
Where the cause is BPPV, crystals displaced within the inner ear, repositioning manoeuvres often resolve symptoms remarkably quickly. Other causes respond to graded retraining exercises that help the brain recalibrate.
Bring someone to drive you if positional testing tends to make you very symptomatic and avoid a heavy meal beforehand. Testing may briefly provoke your dizziness, that is how we identify the cause and it settles quickly.
Dizziness, vertigo and unsteadiness frequently respond well to targeted treatment.
